As I have progressed throughout my career, from my internship days to holding multiple senior positions in the STEM field, I have always been one of the very few women in my field. I never really noticed this until one day a coworker asked me how it felt to stand up in a room of 40+ men and give a presentation while being the only woman in the room.
Being a woman in a male-dominated world, I started to notice what I wore mattered, having mentors and the right guidance was critical, bringing confidence to everything I did was imperative, and imposter syndrome was a real thing.
How was I going to navigate through all of this? College never provided a course covering these “soft skills.” Through lots of trial and error, research, and the help of a few great mentors, I was able to learn to navigate the harsh waters of life.
I started sharing the lessons I learned with college students, speaking at career fairs and STEM events, and being asked to be a part of numerous panel discussions on “Leaning In the Workplace”. My passion became coaching women to become their best selves by providing them the tools to be creative, confident, and strong women.
That is when I decided to start Reigning in Style: A forum where I could share the tools and tricks I have learned throughout my career to help others grow in the workplace and become their best selves.
